PRE-RELEASE: Solos – Beast Of Both Worlds [Track]

Out on September the 11th, on Joyful Noise Recordings, is an incredibly interesting debut album from this unlikely duo. Folk singer Aaron Ross has teamed up with the guitarist from experimental math rock group, Hella, Spencer Seim, who is also the drummer for the Nintendo music cover band, The Advantage.

This pairing may be about to unleash something very special, and the corker which I’ve got featured below for free download, is a prime example of what they have managed to produce by experimenting wholesomely on ‘Beast Of Both Worlds’.

The free mp3, ‘Carpe Diem’, is a powerful beat driven hard rock tune, with a ballady vocal sitting on top. That’s all balanced with a mixture of guitar styles causing a frenzy in the middle. I like this tune a lot, especially the way it blends many genres, and is fearless in doing so. It even has something folky happening at the very beginning, which reminded me of an Irish reel. Seriously, I’m from Ireland, and have listened to my fair share of reels, and that had the notation and tempo going on!

I’m really looking forward to reviewing the rest of this album, and I’ve got it here in my hands, but I’m going to leave the rest up to your collective imaginations until it gets close to that September 11th release date. I’ll give you a full rundown then and drop some links to stockists too, so make sure you check back because this album is worth keeping an eye out for – this really is something different!
